Motivation can drive the employees of an organization to meet their individual goals as well as the company's overall goals, and motivated employees can lead to increase productivity and allow an organization to achieve higher levels of output. Organizational high-level achievements depend on employees’ performances, which have relationships with motivation, ability, and environment (P =MxAxE). According to the above explanation, it is revealed that the employees Motivation is very important for any organization to increase the employee’s performance and the organization's productivity, which will help to achieve the organization's goals with high profitability. Every successful organization is backed by well-motivated employees.

 



What is Motivation

Motivation is the process of getting someone to act in a certain way by giving them a reason to. In the context of an organization, motivation means encouraging and pushing workers to do their best work so that the organization can reach its goals. Further, motivation is the art of exciting and encouraging people to do their jobs well so that both the organization's goals and their own can be met

Employee motivation directly affects business revenues, making it crucial to motivate staff. Today's organization also faces a big retention challenge as most employees' engagement with their job has decreased. Further Most of the companies in Sri Lanka are currently working for the survival of their business by reducing all additional costs like overtime, sales incentives, annual bonuses, staff motivation events like annual get-togethers, performance appreciation conventions, and foreign tours as most companies' annual sales turnover and profitability have been declined. To retain well-trained, experienced staff, all organizations should spend on motivating events while considering the long term benefits for the organization.
